Social activity programme

During your stay in Stockholm you will have the opportunity to get to know the city and Sweden well. We will offer you a vast number of social activities. A full, exciting and widely varied social activity programme with a full range of on- and off-campus activities will give you a chance to get to know your fellow students, Sweden and the city of Stockholm.

Stockholm Summer School offers not only an interesting academic programme, but also an opportunity to get to know the city of Stockholm and the Swedish way of life, and of course to have fun meeting new friends! When taking part in the arranged social activities you will experience the city at its best. Enjoy the unique mix of metropolitan life style and wild nature, visit the hot spots of Stockholm and learn more about what it’s like to live in the capital of Sweden and northern Europe.

All social activities can be booked and paid in advance together with the accommodation fee. The total price for the package of social activities is 850 SEK. Buying the full social package ensure you a spot in the most attractive activities. No payments are refundable.

The on-line purchase of the social activity package is now closed but you will be able to purchase tickets on-site and there are a number of activities which are free of charge.

Tues 18 June	Lecture: John Alexander on Cultural Communication	Open to everyone	Seminar on Communication across cultures. Take the opportunity to attend a very entertaining and interactive seminar! Culture beats strategy every time…
Tues 18 June	BBQ	Open to everyone	A barbecue is waiting for you after the lecture. Bring your own drinks and things to barbecue and lets have a beautiful summer evening together! Maybe even go for a swim in the sunset!
Wed 19 June	Conversational Swedish, lesson 1	Included in the social activity package available for pre-purchase. Price single ticket: 150 SEK	Do you want to learn how to order a coffee, say hello or to be able to read the signs in the tube station? Yes? Then this is for you!
Sun 23 June	A taste of Swedish Midsummer	Included in the social activity package available for pre-purchase. Price single ticket: 250 SEK	Swedish Midsummer celebration is an important holiday in Sweden and characterizes a great deal of the Swedish national identity. Here you will have the opportunity to try Swedish Midsummer food and participate in some traditional activities of a Swedish Midsummer!
Mon 24 June	Stockholm City Hall	Free of charge and open to everyone	The City of Stockholm invites you to the City Hall. It houses not only the political and administrative centre of Stockholm, but also the Nobel Prize Banquet which is held in this building every year. Join us in this opportunity to get an exclusive tour around Stockholms City Hall!
Tues 25 June	Conversational Swedish, lesson 2	Included in the social activity package available for pre-purchase. Price single ticket: 150 SEK	Pick up where you left off and take this opportunity to improve your skills! To participate in the second lesson you must already have attended the first.
Sat 29 June	Floorball	Included in the social activity package available for pre-purchase. Price singel ticket: 200 SEK	Try and enjoy Sweden’s largest indoor sport! Anyone regardless of age, physical condition, or gender can grab a floorball stick and join in the fun. Floorball is a fun, fast-paced hockey game that is played on foot with lightweight sticks and a plastic ball.
Mon 1 July	Canoe excursion	Included in the social activity package available for pre-purchase. Price singel ticket: 200 SEK	Having a lot of water and nature around Stockholm city offers something not many other cities do - the opportunity to go canoeing! A two hour excursion will take you around the bay and let you experience the calmess that is to find just around the corner of campus.
Thurs 4 July	Farewell mingle	Open to everyone	It’s time to say good-bye, so let’s do it in style with a cocktail party, diploma collecing and mingle. Toast your successes and enjoy summer’s most memorable evening with your new friends! You will also get the opportunity to meet representatives from the universities who will be on hand to tell you all about the opportunities Stockholm has to offer you.
